“The center of business and entertainment”, that’s how New York City is called. NYC (the United States of America) is recognized as the cultural and financial capital of the world. Its area is a home for more than 8 and a half million inhabitants which makes it the most populous city in the United States. Nevertheless, NYC is quite a young city founded in 1624 by Dutch and Netherlands colonists. Its first name was New Amsterdam which was changed on the current one by English in 1664.

NYC consists of five boroughs, namely, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island. Since the City was founded, it gives a very possibility for the immigrants to live there legally. That’s why in NYC about 800 languages are spoken which makes it the most linguistically diverse city in the USA and the world.

As NYC is one of the cities in the North America most closely situated to Europe, numerous immigrants have arrived there during 19th and 20th centuries crossing the Atlantic Ocean in search of a better life. It became a world leading business center thanks to Wall Street, major financial street, and two the biggest stock exchanges. NYC has the most extensive traffic in the world, its subway provide 24/7 service on 469 stations.

Also, NYC is famous thanks to its multiple skyscrapers, bridges, and parks. One who is going to visit NYC major attractions has to get acquainted with at least 5 the following must-see sights.
1. The Statue of Liberty

It is an American symbol of democracy and freedom and one of the most famous attractions in NYC gifted to the America from France in 1886. The Statue of Liberty was brought to NYC by ships, its weigh is approximately 450 thousand of pounds and height is more than 300 feet. It was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel who later uses this design for the Eiffel Tower. Visitors are allowed to get to the torch to see a view of the New York. In order to do it they have to climb 168 steps inside a construction of Lady Liberty.

Broadway and its central part, Times Square, is perhaps the most visited places in NYC being an accumulation of theater venues where the world-known performances are given. Times Square is like a spark on the map of New York, its distinctive feature without which NYC is not a NYC. It shines brightly adorned with advertisements and billboards. On Times Square many famous actors are walking along the Broadway with other passers. There one can buy theater tickets with a discount up to 50 percent.
3. The Empire State Building

Empire State Building is the highest of other buildings of Manhattan. Its height is 381 m. Located in the center of Midtown Manhattan. Almost at the top of Empire State Building, visitors can experience the breathtaking 360° views of NYC from open-air observatories, places on the 86th and 102nd floors.
