We all know that the world is constantly evolving and the automotive industry is no exception! Now there is a very big problem, namely, global warming and environmental pollution, so many manufacturers are thinking in the direction of replacing internal combustion engines or reducing the release of gases from exhaust pipes. Is this good or bad for car enthusiasts? Let's take a look at all the pros and cons!
In February 2008, at the same time at the auto shows in Chicago and Philadelphia, the official premiere of the Dodge Challenger muscle car in its third incarnation, which was revived after a 25-year break, “thundered” at the same time. The Americans so warmly accepted the legendary model that in just three days they sold out its annual circulation.
Then in 2009 it was slightly modified. But the Challenger has changed significantly in 2011, retuning the brakes, suspension and steering. But I think that the most important changes were in 2014, when the whole body kit was changed and the interior finally looked like the interior of a normal car! Also put a new more modern box. Size matters! Therefore, the new Challenger was 5 meters long, 2 meters wide and almost 1.5 meters high. To be honest, this is my favorite restyling and I would definitely try such a car, but only an SRT Hellcat, with a top 6.2 engine and a turbocharger. What together gives a herd of 707 horses under the hood. stock car goes 0-100 in 3.7 seconds. With a maximum speed of 320 KM/hour. This car also has a brother, a 4-door version of the Dodge Charger. Cars for the gas station owner or his son. So, in 2024, the production of these machines will stop. They will be replaced by Challenger and Charger with all-electric motors. Although it was previously believed that electric cars would be produced in parallel with gasoline versions. Why did it happen? This decision is due to two reasons. First, these are new tough eco-standards that put an end to big V8s. By 2030, Stellantis plans to completely abandon internal combustion engines and will gradually reduce the number of gasoline and diesel models. Secondly, Dodge wanted to add power to the Charger and Challenger. Electric motors make it easy to do this, even if not all model fans will accept such a revolution. The fact is that iconic American cars back in the 60s and 70s were equipped with huge V8s with a capacity of up to 425 hp. with., and now the line has a 707-horsepower version of the Hellcat and 840-horsepower Demon. Details about the new models are still scarce. It is known that it will be built on the Stellaantis STLA platform, which allows you to install four engines with a capacity of about 900 hp.
We all notice how Audi switches its cars to electric and the R8 is no exception. For the first time this German, mid-engined, all-wheel drive sports car was presented in 2006 at the Paris Motor Show. Audi immediately set an interesting tone by releasing a competitor for the Porsche 911 and Ferrari and the rest. The Audi R8 takes its name from the racing car of the same name that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car began to appear in dealerships in April 2007. At that moment, the price of a regular car without options exceeded 100,000 €.
Faced with growing enthusiasm for the R8 in Europe, Audi had to revise its production rate upwards, which had risen to 20 R8s per day since 2008 and reached 20,000 vehicles produced in July 2012. first with a V8 engine, to a more powerful version (R8 V10) in 2009, a racing version (R8 LMS) in 2009, then to a discoverable version (R8 Spyder) in 2010.
But the company is seriously thinking about not releasing the successor to its most ambitious model, the Audi R8, Hildegard Wortmann, the company's global head of marketing, told Top Gear. According to the top manager, the next generation of the sports car may not be released at all. And rumors about the release of an electric sports car with 1000+ horsepower will probably remain rumors. But the company is promising something completely new, unrelated to the current R8. New model, new name, new logic and a completely new car.
I can write a lot about this car, but I’d rather write a new article where I’ll also tell you about all the bodies that came out earlier.
