Should I stay or should I go? I had 30 seconds to decide.
A man looked dangerous. He had his back to me, in his hands was a gun pointed at elderly woman. He was shouting loudly and didn't even notice when I was riding a bike by him. Suddenly he told, that he gave her 30 seconds to decide something. He started to count. My heart was beating very fast.
I'm a karate champion, so I could try to help this woman, but it also was very dangerous, because the man had the gun. He was furious at the same time. I had 10 seconds to make a decision, which was the biggest, the hardest and the most important in my whole life.
The next minute, I ran up to the stranger, hit him and grabbed the gun. I was pulling a gun on him, when I called the police. For me it's taken a long time for the police to arrive. A man was silent, the woman was crying. She looked very scared. I was nervous and my body was shaking.
Finally, the police arrived, grabbed the stranger and put him in the police car. I relaxed. Later, an ambulance arrived too. In the police station I found out that this elderly woman is very very rich, she is a widow of the ex-premier of the USA. And the man is her nephew. He just wanted to get her money.
Six months later, I got the medal of valor, and the men became a prisoner. That day I will never forget.
